Sitting And Squash – A Big Day For Noah!

Today was a big day for Noah! At his physical therapy appointment he sat up on his own for the first time ever!!! Granted it wasn’t long (about five seconds) but he did it! Yeah…!!! This kid works harder then most adults I know; between his physical, occupational, and speech therapy appointments, he never stops. However, God has really used all of these therapies to help him get stronger.

Children born with Down Syndrome have hypotonia, which is basically low muscle tone. This is why it’s very important for them to start early intervention as soon as possible in order to maximize their growth and development. I must say we have been very happy with Noah’s progress since starting Our Children’s House At Baylor at three weeks old! Noah will be seven months old on the 15th of this month, and he has been working s0 hard at all of these appointments pretty much his entire life! But it isn’t just Noah…we too have been going to what seems like endless appointments since Noah was born…but it’s ok! However, I can’t explain how it feels when a day like today happens, and you see all of your sons hard work pay off! He sat up on his own for about five seconds…but let me tell you, those five seconds were priceless to us! What a cool feeling is was to see this little guy sit all on his own after months of us having to hold him up!

This kid works hard!

It’s the little things (like five seconds of your kid sitting up) that really mater.

Later that night Noah got to have his first ever squash! As you can see (and hear) in the video, this kid really enjoys squash (and peas, and bananas!) He is doing so well eating from a spoon….it’s so fun to watch!

Tomorrow (actually later on today) we have a weight check at Noah’s pediatrician. The last time we saw her for his six month visit he hadn’t gained any weigh so we upped his feedings, and are praying for a weight gain at today’s visit.

It is hard thinking about how hard our little guy is going to have to work once home since he has never had therapy. It is so fun getting to read all about Noah's journey. We know this will be a different experience stepping into life with a munchkin that needs some extra stuff especially 2 years into it:) and yall's site is a blessing to us! Thank you guys!!! And thank you sweet little Noah!

  • That's so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I know how hard it is to do the "little things" because I have Cerebral Palsy. Way to go Noah!!!!!!!!!!!!
