As I mentioned the other day when Noah sat up by himself for the first time, baby milestones seem to happen when you least expect it.
Like today for instance. There I am just playing and laughing with my son like I usually do when I see him do his usual super-cute-mouth-wide-open-baby-laugh. Only this time when he smiled, and his little 10 month old mouth opened as wide (and as adorable) as it usually does, I saw a teeny tiny little baby tooth making its way through his gum line. In other words, I saw his first tooth….!
I know people often wonder where their baby with Down syndrome will get their first tooth, and while I can’t answer for everyone, I can say that our child with Down syndrome got his first tooth at 10 months old. Every child’s teeth will come in at different times, so please remember to celebrate, not compare! 🙂
What really bums me out is for some reason I didn’t take a video today, all I got was a picture. Bummer. (If you are new to our site, we are telling an online story of our son’s life via 1 minute daily videos. Our hope is to give the world a window into what life is like for 1 family raising a child born with Down syndrome.)
I’m not sure what happened, but that’s just how it goes sometime. Oh well. 🙂
We’re super happy that Noah got his first tooth, and I’m sure he’s excited to continue to pull up a seat at the big boy table and get ready to sink his teeth into something a little more exciting than milk and home made baby food. (Pun intended. Thank you I’ll be here all week……)
Has your baby gotten their first tooth yet? How old was your boy / girl when they got their first teeth? (Bouns points if you post a picture of their first tooth in the comments below and our Facebook page!)

It`s so cute!Congratulations precious Noah!
thank you! :)
I have 5 kids the earliest to get a tooth was my youngest at 9 months and the latest one was my oldest and he got his first one was 18 months and the others were in between
Wow. Full house, just like the one my and my 3 brothers grew up in. My mom had 4 boys! We had some, ummm...fun times! :)
Oh dear Lord........Little Man got his first two teeth around 3 months (yes, two at the same time). He had his second two teeth a couple weeks later. He gets his teeth in pairs. At 17 months, he has almost all of his teeth that he's "supposed" to have by 2 years (a couple are poked through but not all the way in yet).
Now he's learning how to use them.
Ouch! Is he chomping on some man food now?? :)
Whoo hoo, Noah! Soon you will be chowing down on brisket and ribs :-) Ellie got her first tooth on her first birthday. By two-years old, she had all of her baby teeth.
Oh yah..! that's awesome!
How have you guys been?
Let the biting begin. I am sorry for your wife if she is still breastfeeding your little guy. Some learn not to bite mama, others not so well.
Thanks! Noah actually stopped breast feeding around 6 months old. So it's all good. :)
I have 3 boys, all well past baby stage now but I remember they were pretty late getting their first teeth, they seemed to have been teething from 5 months (or so i thought) ;)
you are a brave man sticking your finger in there :-)
Haha. Tell me about it. My wife and I have both been bitten many times since I snapped that picture.
Those teeth may look little, but they pack a powerful punch! :)
Enzo has not gotten his first tooth yet...but I think it's coming soon. He's drooling more than ever and I heard that is one of the first signs. This is so exciting. I can't believe it's been almost a year for us!
MY twin boys are 11 months old...One of them got his first tooth at 9 months and my other son who has DS got his 2 teeth together (The bottom 2, in the right order:-)) at 11 months ! Little pearly whites!
Colton got his first teeth, his 2 bottom front, on his first birthday! He is now working on 2 molars before any others and taking it like a trooper. His big brother got his first tooth at 4 months.
