Did you know that Noah had Down Syndrome before he was born?

No. There are several ways doctors can attempt to let you know ahead of time if your child will be born with Down Syndrome.  They can do this by looking at the ultrasounds, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, and an amniocentesis.  Noah’s ultrasounds showed no signs of Down Syndrome, and we opted not to have the other tests done.

If you had known that Noah had Down Syndrome ahead of time would you have chosen abortion, or adoption?

Absolutely not…!  If there is anything we are 100% sure about, it’s the fact that God knows what He is doing.  God has wired our family for this, and if you are having a child with special needs (like down syndrome) chances are He has wired your family for this exciting adventure as well…!

Noah having Down Syndrome had nothing to do with his personhood.  He is just as much as a person as you or I (in fact you could even say he is more of a person since he has an extra chromosome!) 🙂  Abortion is never an option regardless of how scared you are of the unknown. In fact, if you are reading this and you are considering abortion, there is a line of people waiting to adopt a child with special needs!  I beg you to please look into this option.
