Since Noah has done so well sitting up lately we thought it was only appropriate that he join us at the grown-up table for dinner.
Although he isn’t ready for a full on high chair quite yet, the fantastic feeding chair that my wife bought for him seems to work well for now.
Noah has a tendency to occasionally slide down in the chair while his eating. His occupational and physical therapist suggested that we use some foam inserts inside of the chair to help give him support until he can fully sit up on his own.
(It’s hard work for a baby to learn to sit up, but it’s been so fun watching him learn!)
In fact it was nice just to be at the table. I’m not sure about your family, but it can sometimes be difficult for us to have a normal meal time.
Especially since Noah was born.
It seems like life has been going 110 miles an hour since December 15, 2011.
Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean our dinner times can be pretty sporadic.
Sometimes we eat at 5:30, and other times at 10:30. Most of the time we sit on the coach, with little Noah wedged in between us (we like looking at him!) while we watch Teen Mom, or So You Think You Can Dance (or maybe Dog The Bounty Hunter.)
Resting. Praying. Eating. Talking. Life is good.
I’m not suggesting our method is the best method.
In fact I think it’s probably ideal for a family to turn the television off at 6:30, gather around the dinner table, and have dinner without the distractions of pop-culture blaring in the background. You know, just the people. And the meal.
Maybe we’ll get there one day.
But we’d have to clear off the mail (and the iMac) that sits on our dining room table first. 🙂
(For an added bonus check out the full sized pictures.)
How is does your family do “dinner time?”
Do you have a standard everyone-eats-at-the-same-time sort of dinner, or a more laid back approach to family meal times?

Your son is absolutely beautiful. What a little darling. My son is a little over 2 now and also has Down syndrome. Thank you for sharing your daily life with your little guy.
Love the post! Has been such a blessing getting to keep up with Noah and all God is doing in his life! Just wanted to let you know, you have December 15, 2011 in the post : )
You and your wife are doing a wonderful job with Noah. It is such a joy to watch him as he changes and grows from day to day. I wish I had had the technology to do this when my daughter was younger.
I still cannot get over Mr. Noah's gorgeous eyes. You guys are doing a fabulous job and little man is thriving. On a side note, what do you think of your iMac?
Glad to hear our family isn't the only one that rarely uses their dining room table for actually eating! My hubby just introduced me to your blog and I'm so glad he did! Noah is absolutely adorable and I look forward to getting his updates in my email box every day!
Those pictures are A.MAZING! :) I especially love the one of Noah looking up at his Mom...have you ever seen such eyes?
Thanks for sharing your family with us!!
Thanks so much! He is quite the cutie, we agree. :) How did you find our website by the way? We're glad you did! :)
