As much fun as I have have creating these daily one minute videos of our son, I have to admit it’s not always easy. My goal is to record, and post, a video every single day.
But sometimes the day just simply runs out before I get a chance to even record the video (much less edit, upload, and post.)
That’s what happened today.
I had actually planned on recording our little guy playing on his new Rody exercise horse. But once my wife got home from work, and we had some dinner, Noah was down for the count. (And my wife followed closely behind.)
Sleeping like a baby.
They say you’re never supposed to wake a sleeping baby (or sleeping wife) so I didn’t. However I still wanted to be sure I captured some footage from today, so I scratched the horse idea, and worked with what I had (which actually turned out to be as equally adorable.)
I pulled out the Nikon and recorded something that I doubt anyone would ever be interested in watching unless it involved a cute, little baby. Our little guy sleeping.
That’s it.
Just a sleeping baby. (But a really cute sleeping baby.)
Fatherhood Has Taught Me How To Be A Ninja

I think I could just and watch this little boy sleep forever. One of the best parts of my day happens right before I head to seep (which is often very late.)
I quietly tip-toe into Noah’s room, kneel down beside his crib and pray over him. Kiss him. And just stay there for a little while watching him sleep.
I sometimes place my hand over his skittle sized heart and just feel it beat. Or I’ll lean in very close so that I can hear his tiny little lungs breathing in and out. Or I simply just hold his hand. — Most of the time I do all of the above.
I just kneel there in that nursrey that my wife and I painted together months before Noah was born, amazed.
Simply Amazed.
Amazed at God’s unique ability to create. Amazed that God would allow me to be the father to this preious little boy. Amazed that I am married to the most amazing wife, mom, doctor, daughter, friend, ever. Amazed that God has allowed my life to turn out better then I could have ever dreamed of.
Amazed by His grace.
It’s overwhelming.
Mr. glo worm is one of best buddies.
It’s almost been seven months since Noah was born and this whole thing still seems sureal to me.
I can’t believe I’m a dad.
I can’t believe I’m a dad to a little boy who has Down Syndrome.
I can’t believe how unbelivably incredible it is to be a dad to a little boy who has Down Syndrome.
(I assume it’d be as eqauly incredible to be a dad to a little boy (or girl) without Down Syndrome. But I wouldn’t know. Noah is our first child, so my only presepcitve on fatherhood is through the lenses of being Noah’s Dad….And it’s an awesome view!)
When Noah was first born I was worried that our life would never be normal again. I was wrong.
We have a new normal….And I’m ok with that.
Very ok with that.

I have to say again that this is one of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen! I don’t understand why advertisers for baby products don’t “use” our babies more in their ads! Toys R Us does some, and there are a few other, but not many. It’s really frustrating.
My daughter is 37 now, but every time I watch the Minute of Cuteness, I remember her at that stage, and I smile. Thanks, Noah’s dad, for helping me remember and re-enjoy her.

I agree with you regarding baby models! I thought about asking someone at Toys R Us “How come I don’t see any babies with Down Syndrome anywhere around where?” just to make them feel awkward! ha,ha
But I haven’t done it…..
I’m actually going to be making a blog post this week about the latest Nordstroms catalog which has a young man with Down Syndrome. I think that is really cool of them, and I was very impressed!
My fave time is Saturday mornings. Daddy and Mommy both get up with Sam, Dad feeds the bottle and Mommy pumps the next one. Daddy goes back to sleep, but Sam is usually ready to go! It’s our only real alone time all week. We play, read stories, or sometimes (if Sam is being kind to his exhausted Mommy) we just relax together, snuggling on the couch and listen to a CD. If Mommy has some good energy, we go for a walk in the sling so we can cuddle and exercise at the same time. Then Daddy gets up and makes us breakfast, our favorite family tradition. Sam eyes those pancakes with such intensity…he probably remembers them from the womb!
I’ve never been much of a morning person, but Sam is turning me into one!

Hello! I came across your blog and I love it. Noah is wonderful and congratulations! We too are semi new parents of a baby boy with Down syndrome. His name is Tyce and he was born on May 31, 2010 so he just turned 1. He is a riot and busy body lately. We too did not know about his little secret until the day after he was born. He is our first little boy and we’ve loved it. It was scarry the unknown but the DS family is amazing. Welcome as well.

I just watched ‘Our Baby Sleeping Like a Baby’. It brought my memories to the surface of when our little girl was that age. I used to watch her sleep and your video reminded me so much of those very precious times with my daughter. She is now a big girl all of age 6. Thank you, Noah and Noah’s Dad.
